What is this experiment about?
A grid full of shapes looks the same at a glance — but one is subtly different. It might be a different size, a different color, turned at an angle, or even a completely different shape.
Questions kids ask
- What kinds of differences should I look for?
- The odd shape out could differ in size, color, rotation, or even be a totally different shape type — so scan carefully rather than assuming just one kind of difference.
- Why is spotting small differences a useful skill?
- Careful visual scanning helps with everything from proofreading writing to noticing when something in the real world looks off or out of place.
- Does the grid change every round?
- Yes — a new grid with a new odd shape appears each round, so you can't just remember last round's answer.
