What is this experiment about?
Blue whales are the largest animals ever known to have lived on Earth — bigger than any dinosaur! Slide across to line up a child, a car, an elephant and a blue whale, and see just how enormous they really are.
Questions kids ask
- How big is a blue whale really?
- An adult blue whale can grow up to about 30 metres long — roughly as long as three school buses parked end to end.
- What do blue whales eat?
- Even though they're huge, blue whales mostly eat tiny shrimp-like animals called krill — millions of them every day.
- Are blue whales bigger than dinosaurs?
- Yes! Blue whales are heavier than even the largest dinosaurs we know about, like Argentinosaurus.
